The third born son of Thomas Dobie and Sarah Crone, who was born on 8 June 1818, married Ann McNicol and emigrated to Australia. They arrived at Port Adelaide on the Poictiers on 13 November 1848.
Agnes Dobie, born on 01 February 1831, and Charlotte Dobie, born on 22 December 1837, arrived in Adelaide on 8 February 1864
on the "Utopia" from Plymouth (Ref no 313. 64/2. servants from
Dumfries Scot.), but later returned to Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
